Claimed Versus Confirmed

Israel’s election week produced thousands of claimed attacks and about 87 that a vendor could verify

Check Point counted roughly 2,700 attacks a week on Israeli organisations in early October. The number it says it confirmed since the start of the month is two orders of magnitude smaller.

Check Point data reported by i24NEWS around 26–27 October put average weekly cyberattacks on Israeli organisations at about 2,700 in the first weeks of October 2026, up 55 percent on the same period in 2025, with the energy and infrastructure sector up 107 percent at nearly 3,900 attacks a week. The firm said it had confirmed roughly 87 attacks against Israel since the start of October. It also said several groups had discussed disrupting the Prime Minister’s Office, the Knesset, the police, the Foreign Ministry and the Bank of Israel on election day, and noted intensified chatter on Telegram and dark web forums. On 27 October, election day, The National reported a claim by Handala — a group US authorities say is linked to Iran — that its operatives had planted bouquets containing “sensitive items” at polling sites, publishing images and letters on Telegram.

Assessment: Hold the two numbers side by side and the information operation becomes legible. Thousands of weekly “attacks” is a telemetry count that includes scanning and failed probes; 87 is the figure with evidentiary weight, and even that is a vendor’s self-report, published by an Israeli outlet, that we could not check against Check Point’s own paper. The Handala bouquets are a claim with group-supplied imagery and nothing independent behind them — the point of such a stunt is not the package but the photograph of it. One absence is worth logging: Predatory Sparrow surfaced nothing during an Israeli election week. Quiet from the most capable actor, noise from the least.
