MEFILES is a daily analytical file on the Middle East and North Africa. It publishes one edition every morning at dawn Gulf time, across ten standing desks, and it has done so since 19 July 2026.
It is not a wire service and it does not try to be. The wires will tell you what happened. This publication exists for the next question — what the event is evidence of, what it contradicts, and what the people describing it are trying to make you believe. Every story is a permanent document with its own address, its own sources, and a signed assessment at the end.

Why the stories are unsigned
Nothing on this site carries a personal byline. Stories run as The Editor, over the publication rather than over a name.
That is an editorial choice and not an evasion. MEFILES publishes a single consistent argument across ten desks every morning; the useful question about any of it is whether the evidence holds, not whose reputation is attached. A reader who wants to check a claim has the sources in the story. A reader who wants to know who stands behind the publication has the ownership line above.
What anonymity does not buy is distance from the work. The publication is answerable for every assessment it prints, corrections are published on the story itself, and the editor answers his own mail at editor@mefiles.news.
How the edition is produced
MEFILES is produced by an editorially supervised automated pipeline. Research and drafting are done by a language model working to a fixed schema and a fixed brief per desk; the editor sets the scope, reviews the edition, and signs the assessments.
