Sisi proposes training a presidential pool inside the military academy, with no law to carry it
At a graduation ceremony in the New Administrative Capital, the president sketched a thirty-month programme for PhD holders aged forty to fifty — and Egyptian outlets immediately asked what constitution it rests on.
Speaking on Saturday 17 October at the Military Academy in the New Administrative Capital, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi proposed that PhD holders aged between forty and fifty be trained inside the academy for thirty months, so that Egyptians could choose a president from among them after his term ends in 2030 — an ending he described as “completely settled.” The account comes from the independent Egyptian outlet Zawia3, which published on 18 October and is the only source retrieved carrying the thirty-month, forty-to-fifty and “completely settled” specifics. Zawia3 reports that the proposal sparked debate over eligibility for the presidency after 2030 and over the constitutional limits on legislation, and attributes to Sisi the argument that the scheme would close loopholes against “attempts to drag the country into the unknown or chaos.” Egyptian Streets, reporting the same address on 17 October under the byline Farah Abbas, framed it as the president announcing that his term will end.
