The three governments called Friday’s text the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement. Reuters, AP, CBS, Euronews, RFE/RL and the Washington Times all headlined it generically, and France 24’s live headline moved the signing to Jeddah.

NBC’s syndication says missile fire “has rained” onto Gulf oil exporters. US News’s syndication of the same wire, same day, same byline, says “Iranian missile fire.” Neither appears in any headline.

Across 4–6 August, the same unsigned Iran–Oman arrangement was rendered as progress, as a claim by a party, as a market event and — in one case — as an accomplished fact. No government has published a text.

The New York Times, the Associated Press, the Washington Times and MS NOW all reported the Iran–Oman talks this week. Each made a different party the one doing something.

Israeli withdrawal now follows completed Hamas disarmament rather than running in parallel. The page carrying the full text of the original deal still runs under the synchronised headline.

A single Cairo-datelined wire story about Trump’s Iran talks was published under two different levels of scepticism on Monday, and the copy underneath barely changed. Two CBS live files carried opposite propositions the same day.

Eight outlets worked from a single Truth Social post on 2 August. The differences between them are not in the facts but in the verbs, and in which actor is allowed into the headline.

Seven headlines covered the same 30–31 July disarmament announcement. Three carried it in the announcing party’s voice, and one outlet visibly changed its mind inside a single news day.

Thursday’s Board of Peace announcement produced at least four incompatible headline frames across the US tier, and the Israeli press reported the agreement as unfinished while Washington reported it as reached.

Three outlets covering the same weekend of Israeli strikes in Gaza published three different death tolls and three different grammatical postures toward them.

The wire’s first headline said Hamas had agreed to disarm. The second said it would disarm only if Israel stopped firing and withdrew. The body text carried the condition all along.

The disarmament announcement of July 30 contained three incompatible sequences for who moves first. Of sixteen headlines reviewed, one carried the contradiction.

Across three outlets on July 30, the published headline and the URL slug disagree. The slugs are the only visible record that the story moved.

The joint US–Saudi strikes that killed at least 20 Popular Mobilisation Forces members were reported through a single CENTCOM claim of “over 30 IRGC-directed aerial drone attacks” that no outlet independently verified.

CENTCOM said the targets were “across eastern Iraq.” The AP image the Washington Post ran showed a struck Popular Mobilisation Forces base in Mosul, and the analysis carrying it was filed from Beirut.

The joint US–Saudi strike on Iraqi territory was the one act in Tuesday’s sequence that indisputably landed. It is missing from most headlines, and Baghdad has no speaker in any version.

An Israeli-sourced claim about Iranian nuclear construction at Pickaxe Mountain moved through two wires in a day. Nobody in the retrieved coverage asked whether it was true.

The American bombing pause is not in dispute. Who performed it is, and the divergence is visible in the headline furniture alone — including inside single newsrooms on a single day.

The talks that moved the oil price rest on one government’s assertion. Iran’s foreign ministry denied them on camera the same day, and one headline in the retrieved set carried the denial.

Israel’s security cabinet approved a legal framework for a multinational force in Gaza on Sunday. Every Western version of the story rests on one unnamed Israeli official ote headline back its own reporting ” and Reuters eventually put that in the headline.

The same shooting near Nablus on 24 July produced at least six different grammatical arrangements of who did what to whom. The variation is not random: it tracks whose account each desk treated as the default.

The director of Nablus Specialty Hospital went on the record about a raid on his wards. His account ran inside the body copy, under photo captions, and nowhere above the fold.

A Gulf state was put under naval blockade and had its tankers burned. The Washington Post made the price the subject, CNBC made Trump the subject, Reuters made the market the subject. Only the BBC let the Yemenis have a reason.

On July 23 the IPC released a single Gaza assessment. AP led with the word "ended." Reuters led with the forecast. Same document — proof that the headline, not the data, is the editorial act.

The FT frames the war as Washington's strategy problem, Foreign Policy as the West's price problem. Both make a Middle Eastern war legible without a single Middle Eastern person in it.

On the tenth night of American strikes, the flagship US press measured a regional war almost entirely by its cost to Washington's politics and Washington's dead.
